“Kristen holds the dance space container as a safe place to explore. So much dance is focused on the external connections of appearance and correctness- Kristen supports and encourages me to move from within- to find, nurture, expand and express what is alive inside of me.”

“Kristen is an amazing teacher and guide. I am deeply grateful to be in her class. It’s hard to really put into words how incredible it feels to be in the atmosphere created by Kristen. There is so much space to be and experience. Guidance and structure with realistic flexibility. So much care and realness. Humour and playfulness. Physical exertion through the entire body and expansion into the spiritual and emotional realms. Truly holistic. I learn, integrated.”

“Words do not say how essential, true, peaceful our session has been last week. I wanted to write about it but it was saying nothing. So, only one word, but with its full meaning: gratitude (to you, to life, to this moment).” —

“Kristen’s teaching approach is quite integrative. She links the technical or practical knowledge to body awareness and developmental patterns of movement, with an emphasis on being present and accepting of whatever is happening in the student’s experience. Most of what is taught feels like its directed at patterns of movement and feeling that have existed in our psyches before the the verbal/conceptual thoughts around them formed (even though a verbal and conceptual element is also included). The emphasis is also more on understanding, seeing, observing, listening rather than achieving a predetermined result; so more descriptive than prescriptive. She approaches her work with a sense of dedication and purpose; in doing so creates an environment and sets a tone that feels safe and trustworthy. I’ve felt free and safe to explore themes anywhere from light and fun play, to deep healing processes. Its okay to be how we are in Kristen’s classes. She has also been very responsive to specific student needs, and will adapt teaching material so they can get the most out of it. I’d highly suggest Kristen’s work to those looking to explore creatively, those looking to explore their relationship to their own bodies and emotions, or those who just would like to play and express themselves.

“Kristen’s knowledge of the human body and developmental movement as expressed in dance has enabled me to become more aware of my body and the wisdom that it holds. My body held the memories of the trauma I experienced as a young child. The depth of healing that I have experienced during her classes, both contemporary dance and Contact Improv, continues to surprise. Her ability to create a safe sacred space has provided me with a place where I can be open to this potential for healing.”

”Your healing presence seemed to have stopped time, like when a windy day goes quiet. Beautifully supported in a forgotten silence, I was welcomed in. I felt so capable, inspired, and guided. The space was an absolute treat and I can’t wait to learn more!”
